Jalen Brunson Addresses His Long-Term Future With the New York Knicks

Jalen Brunson came into the NBA as an undersized second-round pick, and after a slow start to his career in Dallas, the team allowed him to walk to free agency. The New York Knicks were happy with how that played out, as they handed him a massive deal, and since that point, he'd led the team back to relevancy, averaging 26 points and 7 assists in 3.5 seasons with the organization that his father once played for.

Then, he made the ultimate sacrifice, giving up over $100 million for the organization so they could land extra help, and recently, he opened up on how he hopes the team would repay him one day. Now, he's expanded on those comments, not stating that he expects an overpay on his next deal, but he does clarify that he wants to be a Knick for life.

“I would love to be here for the rest of my career. I love this place. They’ve welcomed me with open arms. They’ve been behind my back since day one. I built a life here. And I love the city, I love the fans, I love everything this place has offered me, on and off the court. So I just love it here. And I’d love to stay.”

This season, the Knicks are looking to push for another chance at the NBA Finals, and while the competition in the East is tough, led by Brunson, this team has a chance when it matters most.

Only time will tell if the Knicks sign Brunson to a long-term deal after this one is up, but given how beloved he's become by Knicks fans and New York, it's an outcome that everyone would love.
