Jaden Ivey Set To Miss Time Ahead Of The Regular Season in Detroit
Oct 17, 2025
The Detroit Pistons took a major step forward last season, and while they fell to the New York Knicks in the NBA Playoffs, the future looks incredibly bright. On a more positive note, they managed this success even without Jaden Ivey, who was expected to form a major backcourt force alongside former No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham.
The 23-year-old appeared in just 30 games this past season, but for the most part, fans were expecting him to return this year to give this team yet another scoring option. Unfortunately, Ivey has now undergone surgery on his right knee to relieve some discomfort, with ESPN's Shams Charania revealing that he's set to be re-evaluated in four weeks' time.
What that means is that Ivey is set to miss at least the first 3-4 weeks of the year, and if he's not ready to return at that point, there's a chance that he could miss multiple months for the Pistons. In his place, the team is likely to turn to the duo of Caris LeVert and Duncan Robinson, and while both are steady players, they don't quite have the ceiling that the former No. 5 overall pick has.

During his 30 games last year, Ivey was taking a major leap forward, averaging 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in that span, but with his health now a major concern, it's safe to say that Pistons fans will be worried about their core group moving forward if he can't stay on the floor.
