Giannis Antetokounmpo Just Deleted A Ton Of Bucks Content From His Social Media

The Giannis Antetokounmpo saga in Milwaukee continues.

On Monday, the Bucks lost 129–126 to the Washington Wizards, who had won just one game in the month of November. After Milwaukee’s defeat at the hands of the worst team in the Eastern Conference, eagle-eyed netizens spotted something that was off with Antetokounmpo’s online activity.

Apparently, the Greek Freak had deleted all Bucks-related content from his social media profiles, save for photos from his 2021 NBA title win and last year’s NBA Cup conquest. Even his bio on X has been altered, as it now contains the generic description of “NBA Athlete.”

On Tuesday afternoon, a tweet by Legion Hoops claimed that the last post on Antetokounmpo’s X feed was a birthday message for the late Kobe Bryant. There’s no telling at this point whether this was intentional, but for what it’s worth, Bryant was a tireless competitor who was known for his pursuit of winning at all costs.

For Antetokounmpo, however, his stint in Milwaukee may have become tiresome. Currently standing at 9–13, the Bucks went through a seven-game losing streak in the latter half of November. These losses ranged from a tightly contested affair with the Miami Heat (106–103) to a 24-point blowout at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers (119–95).

Adding to Antetokounmpo’s frustration is the fact that he’s putting up MVP numbers yet again. In 16 games this season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 30.6 points on a blistering 63.9% shooting clip, along with 10.7 rebounds and 6.4 assists. Despite his incredible play on both ends of the floor, the Bucks are 16th in offensive rating and 22nd in defensive rating.

It’s possible, of course, that the one-time NBA champion is merely doing a soft-social-media reset as he tries to clear his mind and establish his focus anew. However, the specific choice of deleting posts connected to his current NBA team cannot be ignored.

In the offseason, rumors were rampant about Antetokounmpo jumping ship. While he ultimately decided to stay with the team that drafted him in 2013, there are multiple signs pointing to significant changes in his dynamic with the Bucks.
