This Celtics Big Man is Focused on Getting to The Line More Often

Celtics big man Neemias Queta says part of his offseason training has been focusing on getting to the free-throw line more often.

Queta made the comments while speaking with CLNS Media. He explained:

"Obviously, I think it's making sure I get in great shape. Go out there and make elite decisions with the ball in my hands, and making sure I get great finishes this year. I also want to like raise up my free throw attempts this year. Just want to be aggressive and make sure I get my percentage up on the free throw line, too."

Queta was born in Lisbon, Portugal, and began playing basketball at the age of 10. He began training with Barreirense until winning a scholarship to Utah State University, where he would play for three seasons. After ending his college career, Queta was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the 2021 draft.

The center would make his way to Boston in 2023 and has earned more and more playing time on the championship level team. The 2024-25 season saw him play in 62 games, starting six of them. Playing a bit over 13 minutes a game, Queta notched career highs in points with 5.0 and rebounds with 3.8. He also shot a career high 75.4% from the line.

There should be the opportunity for the center to earn more playing time in Boston this year. Al Horford is still a free agent, but isn't expected to re-sign with the team. Luke Kornet is now in San Antonio and Kristaps Porzingis is now in Atlanta.
