The Bucks Have Signed Sharpshooter Amir Coffey

Amir Coffey, who has spent his entire basketball career with the Los Angeles Clippers, has signed a deal to play for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Coffey was a target for many teams looking to fill out the back end of their bench, but it was Milwaukee that was able to add him on a one-year deal. Shams Charania tweeted:

"Free agent forward Amir Coffey has agreed to a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell ESPN. Coffey spent his first six NBA seasons with the Clippers, averaging 9.7 points, 47.1% field-goal shooting, and 40.9% from 3 in 2024-25."

Coffey was born and raised in Minnesota and would eventually become the best player in the state, winning Mr. Basketball Minnesota his senior year in high school. He stayed home for college, playing ball at the University of Minnesota. He played three seasons, earning Third-Team All-Big Ten honors in 2019.

Despite his success at the college level, Coffey went undrafted in 2019, but soon signed with the Clippers. He has been a member of Los Angeles' rotation since the 2021-22 season and has made several starts each year. The last season he spent in L.A. was his best, as he averaged a career-high 9.7 points per game.

What interested many contenders was Coffey's ability to shoot the ball, especially from three-point range. Last season, he was one of the few players in the league to shoot better than 40% from three. If he does that again, he will play quite a bit in Milwaukee.
