Sophie Cunningham Sticks Up For Player Who Accidently Injured Her

Rising NBA star Sophie Cunningham said that she has nothing but love for Bria Hartley, the Connecticut Sun guard who was invloved in Cunningham's knee injury.

Cunningham was a known player in the WNBA, but she has a lot more eyes on her since she was traded to the Indiana Fever. She has not only stood out for her looks and her social media presence, but also for her play.

The wing plauer has also deceloped into somewhat on an enforcer for league superstar Caitlin Clark. An episode where she went after Jacy Sheldon after Sheldon poked Clark in the eye quickly went viral.

This week, Cunningham tore her MCL after a collision with Bria Hartley and many were quick to slam Hartley. That included Cunningham's own mother and sister.

Hartley has been involved in plays where players have been injured in the past. But during a podcast episode, Cunningham had her back, saying:

"I know Bria, and I'm actually really good friends with Bria, and I've been waiting to get on the pod so we could talk about this, because I did want to tweet it out. There was no ill intent. I think it was a basketball play. I was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. She fell. There's no way that she'd go in there and potentially try to hurt me. I have nothing but love for Bria. I even, like, told my mom because she tweeted something — I was like, 'No, Mom, like I get it, but I promise you Bria and I are super cool and she would never try to hurt me.' Because there are some girls that I think might, but she wouldn't do that. ... I hope people stop giving Bria some heat because I don't think she meant to do that at all."
