Nikola Jokic Silences the Critics Who Believe He Doesn't Care About Basketball

There’s not a lot you can say to criticize Nikola Jokic. He’s already cemented himself as one of the greatest big men ever; he’s played for one team, has no scandals to his name, and is generally considered a well-liked guy. However, no star can rise in the NBA without some haters.

One of the biggest knocks on Jokic is that he seems like he “doesn’t care enough”. When he won the NBA Finals, he seemed annoyed that he couldn’t return to Serbia before being at the championship parade. He is often shown with a lack of enthusiasm after big wins.

Some people even think that Jokic won’t play long in the NBA. It’s been hypothesized that he might leave to go tend to his racing horses back home at any point in time.

Nikola Jokic recently set the record straight both on how long he plans to play in the NBA and how passionate he really is about basketball.

“To be honest, I think I’m going to play basketball until I can play at a high level. Because I enjoy it, I love to play. So, I think I’m going to play until I can no longer perform on a high level and still be healthy...I think if you don’t care for winning, you’re not supposed to be in this sport. I think just my personality is maybe a little bit different, or I accept victories and success in different ways. But I care about basketball, I love to play, and I enjoy competing. I just accept success or defeat differently”.

You don’t become as good as Jokic by not caring. Jokic’s love for basketball runs deep, and he’s put in the work to become one of the greatest players ever.

The fact that he plans to play for a long time is great news for all basketball fans. Jokic is one of the greatest showmen on a basketball court, and every year fans get to watch him play is a blessing.
