Mike Brown Talks About Which Young Knicks Will Get Minutes

The New York Knicks are actively trying to improve their roster. With very limited trade assets and a pretty stacked cap sheet, the Knicks' options were limited. Still, they end up making multiple additions to the team during the NBA trade deadline.

Now they need to figure out their rotation.

Mike Brown recently spoke about how he plans to integrate the new pieces into the Knicks' rotation.

“Mo’s had a good season so far. As a young guy — as you guys know, I’ll play young guys and I have played young guys in front of vets before. But I’m going to give Jeremy an opportunity…similar to Tyler (Kolek). Jose (Alvarado) is a vet. He knows the league. The league knows him. He knows the officials and visa versa. So (Sochan and Alvarado are) going to get an opportunity. But at the end of the day I’m going to play who I think is best for us. Right now, Jeremy is new. He hasn’t played for us. So I have to see rather quickly what we have in him before going to the playoffs.”

It sounds like Mohamed Diawara might start losing minutes to the Knicks recent additions. Diawara is averaging 7.1 minutes per game and scoring 2.7 points with 1.2 rebounds in his minutes. Sochan hasn’t really gotten any looks in a Knicks uniform yet it sounds like they are coming soon.

Can Sochan and Alvarado help take the Knicks over the hump? They are both solid role players and depth is necessary for a deep playoff run. It will come down to the Knicks' stars, however, to see if they can finally reach the NBA Finals.
