Former Sixer Ricky Council IV Inks a Deal With Nets

After impressing in extended time with the Philadelphia 76ers last season, Ricky Council IV has agreed to a new contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

Ricky Council IV is a true success story in the NBA. He was a three-star prospect out of high school who began his college career at Wichita State before he transfered over to Arkansas.

Council IV wasn't drafted after an impressive career at Arkansas that saw him named 2023 Second-Team All SEC. He signed a two-way contact with the 76ers after the draft. While he began his professional basketball career in the NBA's G League, he did make 32 appearances for the Sixers during his rookie year.

The Sixers were ravaged by injuries during the 2024-25 season and that allowed Council IV to play quite a biit He appeared in 73 games and made 12 starts. For the season, he averaged 7.3 PPG in 17.1 minutes a game. He also added 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Council IV, who was waived by the 76ers after his second year is still an unfinished product. He stands 6 foot 6 inches tall and is known for his athleticism and explosiveness. While with the Nets he will look to work on his outside shot. He only shot 25.8% from three-point range and 38.2% from the field.

The Nets went into the free agency period with tons of money to spend, but the only additions they made this off-season, outside of their four first-round draft picks, were trading for Michael Porter Jr. and Terrance Mann. Council IV will almost certainly get an opportunity for extended minutes.
