Draymond Green Reveals the Toughest Player He's Ever Guarded
Mar 11, 2026
Draymond Green is one of the greatest defenders of All-Time. He has one Defensive Player of the Year award and is one All-Defensive team selection away from joining Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 10 such selections. Green’s defensive versatility and genius will eventually make him a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

When Draymond talks about the hardest players to guard in the league, people should listen. Green has guarded every All-Star of the last decade plus, and after playing his entire career with Stephen Curry, knows what special offensive production looks like.
After a recent Warriors win against the Houston Rockets, Draymond went on his podcast to discuss who the toughest player he’s had to guard is.
“It’s always fun playing against K. He’s one of the greatest scorers I’ve ever played against and by far the toughest player I’ve ever had to guard in this league… I like guarding K more than anyone in the league just because of the challenge it presents. It’s such a f*cking challenge. He’s 7ft, fast, quick as hell, does everything with precision.”
Everybody knows just how impossible a guard Kevin Durant is. He’s one of the greatest scorers ever, and his 7-foot frame makes it nearly impossible to affect his shot. Draymond has defended bigger; he’s defended faster, but Durant still makes the top of his list of toughest players to guard.
Green giving Durant his flowers is interesting. Green famously chased Durant out of Golden State when the two got in a huge fight mid-season. However, sometimes you can’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone. Maybe Draymond will call Jordan Poole his favorite point guard to play with next…
