Celtics Ink Draft Pick to a Two-Way Deal

On Friday, the Boston Celtics signed Amari Williams, who they selected in the second year of this year's draft, to a two-way NBA contract.

The news was broken by Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype. Scotto wrote on X:

"The Boston Celtics signed No. 46 pick Amari Williams to a two-way deal, sources told Hoops Hype. He averaged 10.9 points on 56% shooting, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks for Kentucky. Agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group and Celtics officials finalized the deal."

The first thing that stands out about Amari Williams, who hails from Nottingham, England, is the sheer size of the player. Williams stands a six-foot-eleven and has a chiseled 250 pound frame.

The center began his career at Drexel University before transferring to Kentucky for his final college season. He had a terrific year for the Wildcats, averaging 10.9 points oer game with 8.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Williams is known for both his rebounding as well as his defense. While attending Drexel, he was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year three years in a row. He has also shown a deft touch around the basket, as he made 56% of his shots from the field.

The center is stepping into a good situation in Boston and should be able to earn some playing time. The team lost Luke Kornet to the Spurs and will likely lose Al Horford as well. With Kristaps Porzingis being dealt to the Hawks, there will be lots of open minutes in Boston's front court.
