Bucks May Be Interested in Two Controversial Score-First Guards
Feb 2, 2026
The Milwaukee Bucks are at a crossroads. The decisions they make over the next week could have a huge impact on the future of their franchise. Obviously, the Giannis trade rumors loom largest, but they could opt to keep Giannis and try to make some improvements to their current team for this season.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Bucks could be interested in making some smaller trades to improve on the margins.
“As previously reported three days ago, the Bucks have discussed improving around the margins with several of their own veteran minimum players in differing trade talks to acquire higher-paid players who fit under their room below the luxury tax, league sources told HoopsHype. The goal of those upgrades would be to either take a chance on a player with potential upside or acquire draft capital for helping a team shed salary. With that in mind, Cam Thomas and D’Angelo Russell are both on Milwaukee’s radar contingent on other deals the Bucks are working on, league sources told HoopsHype.”
There’s really no point in the Bucks making a trade like this. Giannis is gone. He is either going to be traded this week or in the offseason. Adding players like DLo or Cam Thomas isn’t going to really help the team now or in the future.
If the Bucks are going to make any trades besides one with Giannis, they should be in preparation for a Giannis trade. Picking up young players with potential or more draft picks should be the top priority, not empty-stat score first players like DLo or Thomas.
