Brian Scalabrine Slammed Critics With LeBron James Reference

While speaking on Duncan Robinson's podcast, Brian Scalabrine explained how big the gap was between regular people and NBA players.

Most NBA fans grow up playing and enjoying the sport of basketball. And it isn't unusual for those people to feel as if they are quite good at the sport. Perhaps even good enough to challenge someone who plays the sport professionally.

Thanks to social media, fans have more access to professional athletes than ever before and some of them take the opportunity to do so. Scalabrine said of those kinds of fans:

"Playing this YMCA rec league, I dropped 60 in a game.  I wasn't trying to brag or anything like that. It was just like, 'Yeah, I had a good game. I had 60 the other night in my rec league.' So, people immediately started tweeting, 'You suck, Scal. I'll beat you.' I'm like, 'Listen. I may suck for an NBA player. Those guys are pretty good. But I don't suck compared to you. You suck compared to me… I'm way closer to LeBron than you are to me."

Scalabrine shouldn't have to explain to people that he made the most of his talent and had an impressive career. The forward worked his way from junior college to the University of Southern California to the second round of the 2001 NBA Draft.

Originally a member of the New Jersey Nets, Scalabrine was most known for his time with the Boston Celtics. He won a championship ring in Boston as a member of the 2008 team.
