Nets' Cam Thomas Responds Profanely to Criticism From ESPN Analyst

Cam Thomas is not happy with ESPN's Zach Lowe calling him a ball hog and cursed out the analyst in a profane message on his X account.

A first-round selection of the Brooklyn Nets in 2021, Cam Thomas has gotten better each year, culminating in a 2024-25 season that saw him average 24.0 points a game for the team.

After that impressive effort, Thomas was expecting to earn a big raise this offseason. The shooting guard is a restricted free agent, which gives the Nets the ability to match any contract offer he receives. It also means that the team could trade Thomas to a new team that would, in turn, sign him to a new deal.

That offer hasn't come to Thomas as yet and doesn't look likely, as most teams with cap space have already spent their money. ESPN's Zach Lowe noted this situation and said that the league's perception is that the Nets star scores empty points, hogs the ball, and doesn't help his team win in other ways.

Thomas reposted a clip of Lowe's comments beginning with "F"*ck you and the consensus, Zach Lowe," before arguing that he is a player who requires double-teams and makes his team better.

It has been a tough situation for Thomas to sit and wait for an offer, as the Nets are eager for him to set his own market before deciding to either trade him or sign him to an extension. Thomas can take his frustrations out on Lowe if he would like, but he has yet to receive an offer in the $20-$30 million per year range he is reportedly seeking.
