Angel Reese: My WNBA Salary Doesn't Pay My Bills

Angel Reese might be one of the biggest stars in the WNBA, but she says that her salary from the league isn't enough to cover her rent.

The WNBA is experiencing an unprecedented surge in popularity since Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese entered the league. This boost in popularity has shone a light on just how low WNBA salaries are, especially compated to those in the NBA.

Detractors would say that the salaries in the league are commensurate with the profits that the WNBA is generating. Still, Reese gave a good example of the disparity saying in a video posted to Instagram Live:

I just hope y'all know. The WNBA don't pay my bills at all. I don't even think it pays one of my bills. Literally. I'm living beyond my means."

Of course, Reese draws money from various sources outside of the league. He made over $2 million via NIL deals while in college at LSU. She also signed a major deal with Reebok upon becoming a member of the Chicago Sky.

The power forward continued:

"That check that I do get here is a bonus. Being able to play for what, four to five months, and get $75,000 on top of the other endorsements that I'm doing, I think it's a plus for me."

Reese is currently injured and not playing regularly for the Sky. A two-time WNBA All-Star, the forward led the league in rebounding her rookie year and before being injured this year, was averaging 14.0 points and 12.6 rebounds per game.
