Watch: Jalen Brunson Reveals A Point Guard He Modeled his Game After

Jalen Brunson recently took some questions from kids at a local basketball court and told them why he modeled his game partly after Steve Nash.

An iconic college basketball player at Villanova, Jalen Brunson was one of the NBA's biggest scouting misses of the last 20 years. Despite his status as the reigning NCAA Player of the year, the point guard was snapped up by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round.

Brunson spent his first four years in Dallas, becoming a starter at the end of his time with the Mavericks. No one quite expected what would happen when he moved to the Knicks as a free agent.

Jalen Brunson has blossomed into a superstar in New York. He has made the last two All-Star games and was named All-NBA Second Team in 2024 and 2025. Most importantly, he has turned the Knicks fortunes around, leading the team deep into the playoffs over the last two seasons.

Also active in the community, the Knick happily answered questions from the young people on the playground. One of the kids asked Brunson who his favorite player of all-time was and he responded,

"It would be Steve Nash. I watched Steve and how he played, becuase he's undersized and not the most athletic and not fast. And the dude won two MVP's."

Brunson's career is kind of similar to Nash's thus far as Nash didn't become a superstar until he signed with the Phoenix Suns in 2004. Like Nash, Brunson has gotten better every year and is still on an upward trajectory.
