Report: Celtics Megastar Moving Well Weeks After Surgery
Aug 20, 2025
According to a source who recently saw him at a basketball camp, Celtics star Jayson Tatum looked to be moving very well after recently having surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Since being drafted out of Duke in 2017, Jayson Tatum has emerged as one of the very best players in the NBA. Tatum has made the All-NBA First Team the last four seasons and led the team to an NBA title in 2024.
But Tatum's 24-25 season ended terribly for him when he tore his Achilles tendon during the second round playoff series against the New York Knicks. That standout is expected to miss the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from the injury.
Despite the seriousness of the injury, Tatum seems to be recovering quickly. He looks great, according to a scout who saw him at the CP3 Elite Camp in Las Vegas. The scout told Heavy.com:
"He was moving really well. There might have been a slight limp or something, but the surprising thing to me is that he didn’t have a boot for any of it. I’m no doctor, but I’ve seen guys coming back from Achilles’ tears, and he looked way ahead. I was kind of shocked to see how well he was moving."
Unfortunately, Achilles injuries have become very common in the NBA. Superstars Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard also suffered the same injury. On the bright side, doctors and trainers are learning more about Achilles injuries and how to quicken the rehab process, and it seems to be working for Tatum.
