Ray Allen: I Left Boston Becuase of the Celtics' Mistreatment

In an interview with the Boston Globe, legendary shooting guard Ray Allen said that he chose to leave the Celtics because he felt mistreated by the team.

Originally drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks, Allen was traded to the Seattle Supersonics in 2003. He would later move again, this time to the Celtics in 2007. He would team with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to lead the team to an NBA Championship in 2008.
As time went on with the Celtics, the team added young guards like Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley. And those young guards began to cut in Allen's minutes. By the time it was 2012, Allen had to thing long and hard about whether or not he wanted to stay in Boston. He told the Globe:
"Once they started signing everybody else, they pushed me down, and I can see it. My agent kept saying, 'They're not calling me back and they're saying we're going to wait and do your contract.' You're not placing any value on me to get anything done. Once I realized they were going to give me what was left, I understand where you're placing my value. It's time for me to go."
The Celtics were offering a two-year deal for $12 million, but Allen turned the deal down to sign with the Miami Heat for two-years at $6 million. The move was a good one. Allen became a key player for a Miami team that also included LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade and won a title in 2013.
