Pelicans GM Says Team is in Constant Contact with Disgruntled Superstar

During a recent discussion with Andscape's Marc Spears, Pelicans General Manager Joe Dumars said that he is in constant communication with franchise pillar Zion Williamson.

It felt like a coup for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019 when they won the NBA Draft Lottery and the opportunity to select Williamson, considered to be a generational prospect. Things have not worked out that way as of yet, but the sky is still the limit for the power forward.
Injuries have been the only thing that can hold the talented forward back. He only played in 30 games the past season, but managed to average 24.6 points, 5.3 assists and 7.2 rebounds a game. He managed to do all that while playing an average of 29 minutes.
When Spears asked Dumars, a Hall of Fame guard for the Pistons about his relationship with Williamson, he responded:
"The first thing I would say about Zion is he’s an incredibly good guy. He’s a really good person. He’s obviously immensely talented. He and I have had some incredible conversations. We are in constant contact with each other. I’ve talked to him about the responsibility of being great and the responsibility of being a leader, of being a captain, of being the best player, of being the face of a franchise."
If Williamson can stay healthy this year, the Pelicans roster has some nice talent. Lottery rookies Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears join Williamson and fellow veterans CJ McCollum, Dejounte Murray and Trey Murphy and Herb Jones. A little luck and a little health could result in a playoff birth.
