One Insider Believes This Bucks Guard Could Breakout This Year

According to Danny Chau from the Ringer, Milwaukee Bucks guard Ryan Rollins is a serious breakout candidate for the 2025-25 season.

In a column about teams who changed their rosters this season, Chau gushed about the potential of Rollins, a 6-3 point guard who has bounced around the league the last few seasons. He wrote:

"Perhaps the most intriguing wild card on the roster is fourth-year breakout candidate Ryan Rollins, who earned the trust of Doc Rivers against all odds last season. Standing at 6-foot-3 with an astounding 6-foot-10 wingspan, Rollins will mostly impact the defense, but he flirted with a 50-40-80 season in his first year as an NBA rotation player."

Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Rollins was a three-star prospect who chose to play his college basketball at Toledo. He was very successful there, winning the MAC Freshman of the Year Award in 2021. In 2022, he was named First-Team all conference.

Following his sophomore season, Rollins entered the NBA Draft and was selected with the 44th pick of the 2022 Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, though he was later traded to the Golden State Warriors. He was injured early and was later traded to the Washington Wizards. He signed a two-way Deal with the Bucks in 2024.

Rollins played the most minutes of his career in Milwaukee last year, and was a starter for 14 games. His surface stats weren't overly impressive, but his defense was. His shooting was also intriguing as he shot 40% from three, 80% from the line and 48% from the field. The Bucks rewarded him with a three-year, $12 million deal.
