Kings Say These Two Players Are Off Limits in Trade for Warriors Star
Aug 20, 2025
The Sacramento Kings are eager to work out a sign-and-trade deal for Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga but are unwilling to involve two key players in the trade.

Kuminga was selected by the Warriors in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft and has emerged as a key contributor for the team. During the 2024-25 season he averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 24 minutes per game.
The forward is a restricted free agent and the Kings would like to sign him, but that would necessitate working out a deal with the Warriors. But so far, Golden State has balked at the trade package Sacramento is offering.
According to Jason Anderson from the Sacramento Bee, the Warriors seek two players the Kings won't deal. He writes:
"The Warriors would probably be quick to pull the trigger on a deal involving Keegan Murray or Keon Ellis. However, a source with knowledge of trade conversations told The Sacramento Bee that Murray and Ellis have not been discussed, and both are considered off limits in talks for Kuminga."
Murray was the fourth overall pick in the 2022 Draft and is coming off a season that saw him score 12.4 points a game and pull down 6.7 rebounds.
Ellis has developed into a key contributor for the Kings off the bench, playing 24 minutes a game and shooting 42% from three point range.
The teams will continue to talk and barter over packages, but it is likely that something will come together soon. Kuminga is seeking a fresh start and the Warriors may not be willing to pay what he is worth on the open market.
