Hornet Explains How Addition of Collin Sexton Will Help LaMelo Ball

During an interview with the Charlotte Observer, Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams explained how the addition of Collin Sexton is going to help LaMelo Ball.

The Hornets are a team that could get better fast. The team added Kon Knueppel with the fourth overall selection in the draft, and he looked great in leading the team to a Summer League Championship.

The team also features a true star in LaMelo Ball. And he is hoping to be healthy this year after only playing in 69 contests over the last two seasons.

When Ball is on the court, Williams believes he will benefit greatly from what Sexton brings to the table. When asked how Sexton would help ball, Williams told Roderick Boone:

"His intensity, I think, will help him out because of his seriousness, his pressure, and his ability to not only take the scoring load off him. He will also be very valuable. Because now LaMelo doesn’t have to force these shots, because he has a guy like Tre Mann, he has a guy like Collin, and he has some guys that can really offload that scoring opportunity but also give him a break."

Like Ball, Sexton can fill up the hoop at a high level. During the 2024-25 season with the Jazz, he scored 18.4 points per game in just under 28 minutes. He also did that scoring in an efficient manner, shooting 48% from the field, 40.6% from three-point range, and 86.5% at the line. It is going to be tough for teams to handle him and Ball at the same time.
