New Thunder Addition Praises Team Makeup and Chemistry

The Oklahoma City Thunder have had something good going for a few years now. Sure, they have one of the best players in the league in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but that’s only part of what makes them special. What has separated the Thunder from the rest of the league the last few seasons is their team chemistry.

Not only do the Thunder players seemingly play harder than the guys on most other teams, but they also seem to like each other more. There are constantly moments where the Thunder express their love for one another and their one-of-a-kind team camaraderie.

After just a few weeks in Oklahoma City, new addition Jared McCain spoke about the Thunder culture and what he’s noticed is different on his new team.

“Credit to Sam Presti. He knows how to get players here that just play for one another. I really love these guys, you know? Even this quickly, they’ve really helped me and gave me that confidence to go out there and be myself. When I see that in others, you want to help the other person out. … We play for one another. I think that’s being in this organization and that’s the Thunder way.”

Sam Presti does seem to have a way of picking not only talented basketball players, but guys who are willing to sacrifice. Everything about the makeup of the Thunder is about prioritizing winning over individual accolades. And even though the Thunder will probably produce the league’s MVP for the second straight season, their chemistry is what makes them the most formidable team in the league.
