Warriors Role Player Reveals Whether He Wants to Return Next Season

The Golden State Warriors don’t have a ton to be happy about this season. Of all the things that could have gone right for them, not many did. Jimmy Butler is out for the season, and Stephen Curry has missed a big chunk himself. Jonathan Kuminga didn’t net them much on the trade market. Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody didn’t take significant leaps. This has resulted in a lackluster season where the Warriors have fought to stay above .500, falling below it after Curry’s recent injuries. As of Wednesday, the Warriors are the 9th seed in the West with a record of 33-35.
One of the few bright spots of the season has been the play of De’Anthony Melton. Melton started last season with the Warriors and looked amazing. Then he suffered a knee injury, missed the rest of the season and the Warriors were forced to trade him.

This season, he is having a career year. He’s averaging 13.4 points (career high), 3.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Melton was asked whether he sees a future with the Warriors after this season.
“The future is only what the future can hold, you know what I mean? I try to take it day by day at this point, cause you never know what could happen, and you never know what tomorrow holds, especially given my career and what’s happened. I just try to wake up the next day and just see what’s going on, and see how my life is feeling and moving around… I feel like I’ve expressed countless times how much I love Golden State, the medical staff, to the actual staff, to the front office, to the players that’s been here, to the players here, so I think that expression of love is definitely out there. But at the end of the day, I just take it day by day to see how it goes.”
The Warriors would love to have Melton back, and if they can afford him, they will. Unfortunately, with the Warriors' payroll as it is, they may not be able to afford all the players they want to sign this offseason.
