Steve Kerr Calls Out The Warriors Struggles, Calls Them An 'Average Team'

After acquiring Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline a season ago, the Golden State Warriors went on a run, having many optimistic about their chances in 2025–26 with a fully healthy team. Unfortunately, early in the season, they've battled injuries and inconsistencies, posting a record of 10–10 through their first 20 games.

Recently, Butler called out some players on the team for their struggles, and now Head Coach Steve Kerr has too, as he called this team 'average' as they currently stand.

"The identity? Well, what did Bill Parcells say? You are what your record says you are. Right now we are 10–10 and an average team."

However, he remained optimistic about their chances, stating that they have the potential to be great if they can work out some of the things that have held them back through 20 games.

"I think we have the potential for much more, and it's my job as coach to help this team find their rhythm to give them that juice."

Clearly, the Warriors just haven't been at their best early in the season, and while it's hard to lay the blame at the feet of any one person, they've still got time to turn things around moving forward.

Ultimately, nobody is going to count out a team that has Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler, along with this talented young group, but if they don't work things out soon, 2025–26 could end up being a very disappointing campaign.
