Magic Ink G League Standout to Free Agent Deal

The Orlando Magic have signed Lester Quinones, previousy of the New Orleans Pelicans to a free agent deal and he will have a chance to make the team's roster. 

News of the signing was reported by Hoops Hype's Michael Scotto, who wrote: 

"The Orlando Magic and Lester Quinones have agreed to a deal, league sources told Hoops Hype. Quinones will compete for a roster or two-way spot. He averaged 8.6 points in 9 games for the Pelicans and 21.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals in the G League last year."

Quinones was born and raised on Long Island, in Brentwood, New York. He was an outstanding high school basketball player who began his career at Brentwood High School before transferring to Newark, New Jersey's St. Benedict's and then to powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. A top-50 prospect nationally, Quinones would sign on to play at Memphis for Penny Hardaway. 

The shooting guard started at Memphis from day one as he made 81 starts over the next three seasons. During his junior year, Quinones scored 10 points a game with 3.5 rebounds. What made him a pro prospect was the way that he shot the ball from range. Quinones shot 39.0% from three-point range during his junior season and 36.9 for his college career. 

Quinones has spent time with the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans. He was named the Most Improved Player in the G League during the 2023 season. The shooting guard 8.6 points per game during his 9 contests with teh Pelicans last year.
