Klay Thompson Comments On The Potential Of His Rookie Teammate Cooper Flagg
Dec 1, 2025
Cooper Flagg has long been seen as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, with the Maine native drawing hype for years and years before finally arriving on the NBA stage. Now, through 20 games of his career, it's easy to see the potential, with his latest performance, a 35-point outing against the Clippers taking him to 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists per game on the season.
While there were some doubters early in his NBA career, Flagg is starting to prove those people wrong on a consistent basis, showing that he can be the face of the Dallas Mavericks franchise for years to come. The veterans around him on the team can see it as well, as Klay Thompson recently spoke glowingly about the potential of Flagg in the modern era of the NBA, calling his potential 'limitless'.
“Cooper’s upside is limitless. He has every tool to be great. Sometimes I can’t believe he should be a freshman in college.”
That's no surprise given that Flagg is still a few weeks away from turning 19, and given what he's shown already in the NBA, it's easy to see why Dallas are considering building their organization around Flagg.

There's still a long way for Flagg to go before he hits his best in the NBA and finds his true consistency, but with his size, versatility, physicality and IQ, there's no reason to believe he won't be a top-10 player in the league for a long, long time to come.
