Kevin Durant Reveals His Thoughts On Russell Westbrook Potentially Signing In Houston
Oct 8, 2025
The Houston Rockets made the move of the 2025 NBA offseason thus far, adding Kevin Durant to give this young, balanced core the top-tier scorer that they needed. This, along with a perceived jump last season from Alperen Sengun, has made them a top threat in the Western Conference, with the Rockets now jumping from talented young team to genuine threat.
However, they suffered a brutal blow when point guard Fred VanVleet went down, with an injury ruling him out for the entirety of the 2025-26 campaign. There are some solutions out there, and while they'd need to get creative to make it happen, former Durant teammate Russell Westbrook is an option.
So how does the superstar feel about it? He was recently asked on the Up and Adams Show, where he revealed he'd love to be reunited with his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate.
“Russ is a legend… I think he deserves to be in the NBA right now… that would be dope.”
It appears as though any hard feelings that remained between these two after Durant's departure from OKC have disappeared, with KD seemingly okay with the idea of reuniting with his star teammate once more.
Ultimately, it's unclear whether this is the direction the Rockets are looking to go in, as other options may better fit the team's makeup. However, if they do want to pursue the fit with Russ, they have KD's stamp of approval.
