Draymond Green Believes This Year's Thunder Can Make History
Dec 4, 2025
What is the greatest basketball team of all time? Some people think it’s one of Michael Jordan’s Bulls teams. Others, the Stephen Curry-Kevin Durant-led Warriors. Is it the 1986 Boston Celtics? The debate will go on forever.
One thing that can't be debated, however, is who has the greatest regular-season team in NBA history. That honor goes to the 2015–16 Golden State Warriors. Those Warriors broke the Bulls' record and went 73–9, the best record ever for an NBA team.

Right now, the Oklahoma City Thunder are looking like they could possibly give this Warriors’ record a run for its money. The Thunder are 21–1, and don’t look like they will be slowing down anytime soon.
Draymond Green, a key piece on that 2015–16 Warriors team, recently spoke about the Thunder’s chances of breaking the Warriors' record.
"It's hard, man, but I do think they're capable of winning 73-plus, though you just need so many things to go right — from health, though they kind of plow right through health, so it doesn't matter, it seems. You need a lot of breaks to go your way, but they're on the right track; I think 73 wins took some years off my life, but as I said, they're capable of a lot."
Draymond is admitting that the Thunder have the recipe to win an astronomical amount of regular-season games. They could even beat the Warriors' record. As long as they stay (relatively) healthy and keep their focus, it seems very much in reach.
That being said, will the Thunder prioritize postseason health over a regular-season record? The Warriors didn’t, and it ended up biting them in the butt come time for the NBA Finals. The Thunder will likely learn from the Warriors’ mistake and fall slightly short of a 73-win season.
